At TenSrc AB, we take pride in our 2003 role as project managers for Sony Ericsson’s CSS-25 mobile desk stand, collaborating with Namtai. This innovative device highlighted our expertise in managing early mobile-PC integrations, showcasing our ability to lead transformative projects.

This project was delivered for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications during the feature-phone era, when Sony and Ericsson operated a 50:50 joint venture. In 2011–2012 Sony acquired Ericsson’s stake for €1.05 billion and the business was renamed Sony Mobile Communications, with products consolidated under Sony / Xperia. In 2021 the mobile unit was fully integrated into Sony Corporation. We keep the “Sony Ericsson (2003)” name throughout this case study to reflect the brand and organizational reality at the time of work.

Our team member served as project managers for a mobile desk stand, collaborating with Sony Ericsson as a consultant and key client. At that time, mobile phones didn’t yet have all the built-in features we take for granted today.

We, through our talented developer, crafted a device with a robust loudspeaker and microphone. When paired with a PC, it could charge the mobile phone and seamlessly interact with apps on the host using AT-commands, with Namtai as a vital stakeholder handling manufacturing in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China.

This product was marketed under the name CSS-25.

While Namtai has since shifted to the real estate business, the CSS-25 has become a relic due to the evolution from its original connector to USB.

This is just one example of all the projects our company’s staff has participated in, building up our huge experience base.
